Climate Change Analyst
Climate change analysts look at research and data about our planet’s climate. A career in this field can include looking at temperatures, polar ice caps, ocean conditions and greenhouse gases. These analysts utilize climate data to create mathematical models to predict future climate conditions. Using this data, they will make recommendations for changes in environmental practices to the government, policy makers and corporations.
What Responsibilities Will I Have?
- Study climate conditions to predict future climate trends
- Analyze climate data through statistical and mathematical analysis
- Review climate-related papers and publications
- Write grant proposals to further research on climate change and environmental stewardship
- Follow local, state and federal legislation and discussion regarding energy and climate change
- Collaborate with scientists who gather climate data
- Determine how to use data and predictions to make recommendations for environmental practices
- Assist researchers in best practices for data representations in presentations and reports
- Communicate findings on climate change to the public
- Develop or contribute to educational and outreach programs on climate change
- Propose new policies to lobby for or against legislation

Education/Training Required:
A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, climatology, hydrology, meteorology, mathematics or other related sciences is needed. However, a master’s degree is preferred.
