Occupational Health & Safety Manager

An occupational health and safety manager is a management role responsible for protecting people, the environment and equipment from unnecessary harm. Occupational health and safety managers establish and promote maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions in a business through formulating general safety, fire prevention, health policies and other measures.

  • Establish and maintain safe and healthy working conditions
  • Devise and coordinate safety programs
  • Assist in meeting obligations under occupational health and safety legislation
  • Coordinate ongoing training for safety and environmental awareness
  • Lead safety meetings and trainings with employees
  • Coordinate training for emergency response teams set up in workplaces
  • Inspect the workplace and regularly audit safety procedures
  • Investigate accidents and prepare and maintain required reports
  • Provide new-hire orientation outlining company safety rules
  • Promote a proactive safety culture
  • Track and report performance and associated cost and budget implications
  • Organize and participate in safety committee activities
  • Develop specific safety objectives and create action plans to meet objectives
  • Maintain, review and report safety performance
  • Prepare detailed reports that include observations, potential safety concerns, corrective actions and plans to resolve concerns
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and production personnel

Formación requerida:
