Renewable Energy Analyst
Renewable energy analysts are responsible for evaluating data on renewable energy sources, including biomass, wind, solar, hydro and geothermal. They conduct audits, run diagnostics and feasibility assessments, and analyze and interpret data from renewable energy sources. They evaluate production, energy outputs and financial aspects while understanding environmental impact and governmental regulations. Renewable energy analysts use this data to recommend sustainable, efficient, cost-saving solutions. Their work supports new developments, design, installation and use of renewable energy solutions.
What Responsibilities Will I Have?
- Perform audits, assessments and system diagnostics to evaluate renewable energy technologies
- Analyze and interpret data from renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, hydro, geothermal or biomass
- Produce models to predict outputs
- Understand geographic and environmental conditions and utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Assess environmental impacts, including land and water use, to ensure sustainability
- Evaluate market and economic conditions, fluctuating supply and financial considerations to assess feasibility
- Monitor and report on performance of renewable energy systems
- Design and implement strategies to optimize the efficiency of renewable energy technologies
- Support the design, implementation and maintenance of renewable energy systems
- Use knowledge of governmental, environmental and energy policies and standards to ensure regulatory compliance
- Identify risks and mitigate them with data-based solutions
- Create reports and provide data for public education about renewable energy benefits
- Research potential new renewable energy products and services
- Stay current on renewable energy advancements and trends

Education/Training Required
Renewable energy analysts usually need a bachelor’s degree in engineering, such as agricultural, chemical, mechanical, environmental, process, industrial or biosystems, or a related degree in environmental science, computer science, statistics, mathematics or architecture.
