Elevator Assistant
Elevator assistants work at facilities that store and handle large quantities of grain. They use elevators, conveyors and other equipment to handle grain and monitor grain quality along the way. Additionally, they coordinate grain storage, help schedule shipments and support grain purchasing.

What Responsibilities Will I Have?
- Operate grain elevators, conveyors and other equipment
- Load and unload trucks and railcars safely
- Monitor grain quality during transfer and storage
- Record weights and grades of incoming and outgoing grain
- Assist with blending and conditioning grain as required
- Follow safety protocols for confined spaces and machinery
- Communicate with drivers and facility staff for scheduling
- Collect samples for quality control teams
- Manage inventory levels and update tracking systems
- Handle minor repairs and troubleshoot equipment issues
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Prepare daily logs and operational reports
- Support seasonal operations during harvest periods

Education/Training Required
A high school diploma is required to be an elevator assistant, but an associate degree will make a candidate more employable.
