Greenhouse Technician
Greenhouse technicians grow and maintain plants in nurseries and controlled environments. They prepare soil, plant seeds or bulbs, apply fertilizers and water plants to ensure healthy growth. In research or commercial operations, technicians may also assist with growth monitoring and record-keeping.
What Responsibilities Will I Have?
- Provide daily care for multiple plant species
- Inspect plants for pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies
- Operate and maintain irrigation, fertigation and climate control systems
- Harvest, thresh and count seeds for propagation
- Mix and apply fertilizers, soil amendments and pesticides, maintaining compliance records
- Maintain greenhouse equipment and overall cleanliness
- Monitor environmental conditions and plant growth
- Record and report on crop performance and system efficiency
- Collaborate with growers and researchers on research goals
- Support experiments or trials to optimize plant development

Education/Training Required
