Information Technology (IT) Specialist

Information technology (IT) specialists serve as support to branch offices and administrative offices in all phases of technology used by employees and customers. They assist in administering and maintaining technical infrastructure that includes customer servers, switches, routers, desktops, laptops, networks and any other element of an organization’s IT system.

What Responsibilities Will I Have?

  • Assist in administering and maintaining IT infrastructure
  • Assist in administering and maintaining security, hardware and applications
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance to support and maintain existing software functionality, deployment and optimization
  • Support the computing needs of the faculty, staff and customers of a company
  • Administer and maintain virtualization technologies
  • Assist in the development of innovative new technologies
  • Research and test new technologies for implementation
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on company devices
  • Ensure devices are secure from cyber threats
  • Install and support software programs
  • Provide training and support to employees
  • Actively monitor and quickly respond to incoming IT service requests
  • Record incidents by cataloging them by symptom and resolution
  • Perform daily IT infrastructure health checks as assigned and report findings

Education/Training Required:

A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related field is required.
