Comprador de granos

Grain buyers build relationships with producers on behalf of the company they represent to purchase the producer’s grain at a fair price. In addition, they source protein meals, screenings, mill feeds and other ingredients as needed from local producers. They are expected to be aware and knowledgeable of grain trading policies and current market trends.

¿Qué responsabilidades tendré?

  • Build relationships directly with grain farmers
  • Write contracts and negotiate prices for grain
  • Source protein meals, screenings, mill feeds and other ingredients as needed
  • Coordinate grain deliveries
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on their ability to supply product
  • Ensure that grain purchased adheres to food safety standards
  • Determine the most economical way of transporting grain based on time and budget
  • Understand different grades on different grains
  • Prepare and deliver presentations
  • Issue purchase orders, invoice purchases and ensure timely payment for farmer suppliers
  • Inspect department budgets and determine suppliers who can follow through
  • Be aware and knowledgeable of grain trading policies and current market trends
  • Perform United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) grain grading procedures
  • Document the grains received, prices paid and amount purchased
  • Work with the logistics department to ensure adequate space is available to store grain
  • Participate in monthly commodity purchasing and inventory-related meetings

Formación requerida:

An associate degree or higher in agricultural business, agricultural marketing or a related agricultural field such as finance or accounting is required.
