Transportation Manager
Transportation managers are responsible for coordinating and regulating an organization’s transportation-related operational activities. They will schedule the movement of transportation vehicles, aircraft and railroad cars and ensure that deliveries and orders arrive on time. Transportation managers make sure that all deliveries follow transportation-related policies and safety rules.

What Responsibilities Will I Have?
- Direct the shipment of products on transportation vehicles, aircraft and railroad cars
- Ensure that deliveries arrive to their destinations safely
- Attend company safety meetings and conduct safety audits
- Ensure that all vehicle operators are trained, tested and certified
- Plan and organize staff members to ensure work is completed
- Develop transportation protocols for the handling of dangerous goods and other materials
- Verify and address customer or shipper complaints
- Log violations and work with various facilities and departments
- Maintain correct files regarding delivery shipments, expenses, accidents, etc.
- Arrange for shipping documentation and tracking
- Ensure vehicles are up to industry standards and maintained
- Develop and recommend budgets for the department
- Recruit personnel and oversee training
- Ensure that fleets comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation laws and policies
- Determine how many and what type of vehicles are needed to operate efficiently
- Manage the records of all aspects of equipment availability and maintenance
- Negotiate service agreements with carriers, warehouse operators and insurance companies
