Shipping Coordinator

Shipping coordinators are responsible for warehouse operations including receiving and shipping goods at agricultural businesses. Their duties include preparing paperwork, communicating with customers and arranging the transportation of materials. They also coordinate functional logistics of staff in the shipping and warehouse departments.

What Responsibilities Will I Have?

  • Act as a liaison between clients and shipping companies
  • Ensure all outbound materials are complete
  • Decide on the best shipping method based on available resources
  • Supervise loading and unloading shipping vehicles
  • Manage and schedule warehouse staff
  • Review orders and cancellations using computer software
  • Make inventory purchases of items and products necessary to the department
  • Process all required paperwork and create shipping documentation
  • Drive a forklift to load pallets into trucks or shipping containers
  • Ensure warehouses are clear and orderly according to safety standards
  • Communicate and coordinate with co-loaders, truckers, customs brokers, and other service providers and agents
  • Resolve problems, provide ongoing support and be proactive with services
  • Coordinate returns and reconcile inventory counts
  • Follow established policies, procedures and objectives

Education/Training Required:

A high school diploma is required, but an associate degree or higher in logistics, supply chain management or a related field is preferred.
