Budget Analyst

Budget analysts are responsible for ensuring that a company’s profits and other resources are being used in the most adequate way possible. They study a company’s budget to find ways to be more efficient and generate more profits. Using this information, they develop reports and presentations to the company communicating their recommendations and findings.

What Responsibilities Will I Have?

  • Work alongside upper management to prepare an annual company budget
  • Analyze and approve budget proposals
  • Ensure all company budgets are combined and totaled correctly
  • Predict the future financial needs of a company
  • Observe corporate spending
  • Report fund availability to managers
  • Research cost effective budget plans for the company
  • Generate financial analysis, evaluations and cost reporting activities of current and proposed financial plans
  • Provide timely and meaningful reporting of operations and budgets throughout the year
  • Plan for financial audits
  • Develop sound accounting policies and procedures that comply with laws and regulations
  • Provide recommendations on how to manage the company budget
  • Help with continuous improvement training for staff in financial departments

Education/Training Required:

A bachelor’s degree in agricultural business, agricultural economics, accounting, finance, business, economics or a related field is required to be a budget analyst.
