Systems administrators are responsible for ensuring that computer software, operating systems, security tools and business applications are functioning correctly. They perform day-to-day maintenance and repairs including software and computer installations and upgrades. Additionally, they support the organization by providing technical support, automation, security maintenance and troubleshooting on computer systems.

- Deploy, configure and update network hardware and software
- Track, escalate and follow up with service providers
- Automate routine processes for efficiency and standardization
- Create documentation for the support and installation of systems-related activities
- Perform audits of computer systems such as backup and disaster recovery
- Identify hidden problems within a network
- Budget and schedule resources
- Ensure proper registration of devices and licensing compliance
- Perform root cause analysis on workplace issues
- Work with staff across departments and assist with computer problems
- Stay up to date with the best information technology (IT) practices and technologies
- Provide database support for core applications
- Maintain, configure and administer software packages and system backups
- Evaluate system’s performance and modify to keep at company standards
- Document processes, including error reports and changes to field history tables

Formación requerida:
A systems administrator typically has an associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology (IT), IT systems administration, IT operations or a related field.
