Equine Manager
An equine manager oversees daily operations, including the care and well-being of horses. They manage the operation and are often involved in the business and administrative side of the organization. Equine managers supervise feeding and nutrition, grooming and breeding and also plan horse training and exercise programs. This position supervises the stables and leads staff. Equine managers monitor health and animal welfare, working with vets for treatment, while maintaining accurate records.
What Responsibilities Will I Have?
- Oversee the care and well-being of the horses
- Manage training and exercise for the horses
- Supervise daily operations of the equine facilities and stables
- Manage and coordinate staff involved in horse care and facility maintenance
- Monitor behavior and ensure horse health and welfare, including veterinary care coordination
- Oversee veterinary treatments for horses as needed, monitor treatment plans and manage equine health and recovery
- Handle business aspects such as budgeting and inventory/supplies for the operation
- Ensure daily tasks like cleaning, feeding and grooming are complete
- Manage and update farm records accurately
- Coordinate the intake and boarding of new horses

Education/Training Required
Employers typically require managers to have equine experience; education or a certificate in equine science, animal science, agricultural business, agricultural science, business management or a related field is a plus.
