Transportista de ganado

Livestock haulers safely and efficiently deliver livestock from a farm to a market or processing plant with animal welfare being their foremost concern. They are responsible for all needed maintenance on the tractor or trailer. Additionally, they must accurately complete delivery forms and forward the documentation to the relevant parties. A willingness to work flexible hours is important.

¿Qué responsabilidades tendré?

  • Transport livestock to and from farms, processing plants or market
  • Observe all regulations and maintain knowledge of changing state regulations required for the position
  • Maintain proper maintenance on equipment and service equipment regularly
  • Conduct a pre-trip inspection of the truck (tires, fuel, oil, etc.)
  •  Assure load is loaded correctly and completely prior to transportation
  • Monitor the livestock’s conditions on the trip and ensure welfare is maintained
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of livestock
  • Complete delivery forms and complete proper records
  • Conduct a post-trip inspection of the truck (wash, fuel, tires, etc.)
  • Comply with all department of transportation rules and regulations
  • Maintain an excellent safety record and clean driving record

Formación requerida:

To become a livestock hauler, a high school diploma is required as well as a commercial driver’s license (CDL) certification for transportation.
