- Clear and prepare construction sites for work
- Load, unload and move building materials to appropriate locations
- Operate hand tools and small power equipment such as drills and jackhammers
- Assemble and dismantle temporary structures and scaffolding
- Dig trenches, backfill excavations and compact or level earth
- Signal equipment operators and control traffic around active work zones
- Mix, pour, smooth and finish concrete for foundations and surfaces
- Assist tradespeople such as electricians, plumbers and carpenters
- Measure and cut materials to specified dimensions
- Maintain tools, equipment and clean work areas
- Follow safety protocols and wear protective gear
- Dispose of waste and salvage reusable materials when possible
