A certified appraiser evaluates and places a monetary value on items as needed for situations like division of properties, appraising conservation easements, valuing agribusinesses, estate planning and establishing value for potential sale of various items in relation to agriculture. Certified appraisers are also responsible for extracting data from highly developed internal and external sources to maintain sales data and valuation systems and deliver innovative customer strategy and solutions.

¿Qué responsabilidades tendré?

  • Prepare accurate appraisal reports of both real and personal property
  • Provide land value support and benchmark valuations by using a range of value evaluation models
  • Conduct appraisals utilizing the cost, sales and income approaches to value
  • Analyze specific data in order to confirm value or determine risk
  • Ensure that changes to all Federal Appraisal Regulations (FIRREA) are promptly communicated and appraisal policies and procedures are revised as necessary
  • Act as primary contact with federal regulators and both internal and external auditors
  • Conduct collateral evaluations including site inspections for environmental risks
  • Perform market data collection and analysis and maintain an accurate sales database

Formación requerida:

An associate or, more preferably, a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business, finance, economics, marketing or a commodity-specific (crop/animal) area is needed to pursue a career as a certified appraiser. Many employers also require certification that may include the General Real Estate Appraiser license.
