Cartographers and photogrammetrists collect, analyze and interpret geographic data to make maps that show landforms, boundaries and other features. - Collect Earth data using drones, GPS units and remote sensing tools
- Compile data from aerial photos, survey notes and GIS databases
- Create accurate maps and spatial models
- Update maps to reflect changes in land use or terrain
- Determine map content, layout and production specifications to guide decisions
- Design thematic maps showing soil, crops or water resources
- Verify accuracy of mapping data and correct errors
- Prepare reports and documentation for mapping projects
- Collaborate with surveyors, environmental specialists and agricultural professionals
- Maintain databases of geographic and photogrammetric data
- Develop digital mapping tools for precision agriculture
- Travel to sites to verify land features and collect GPS data
- Estimate time, resources and project requirements to support planning decisions
- Ensure compliance with mapping standards and regulations

Education/Training Required
